Taylor Swift Performs For Jimmy Fallon After His Mother Died

Last night was Jimmy Fallon's first show back after his mother passed away.

According to one of The Roots members, Mide DiCenzo, on twitter, Taylor Swift was not originally scheduled to perform, but they knew Taylor was in town for SNL and they wanted something special for Jimmy. So they asked Taylor to perform and she said yes with no hesitation.

She performed New Years Day, which has lyrics like "hold on to the memories, they will hold on to you" and "squeeze my hand 3 times in the back of the taxi" that really hit Jimmy hard emotionally. Jimmy had told a story about his mother that when he was little she would squeeze his hand 3 times and say "I love you".

Jimmy was apparently crying through the performance and then the two shared an emotional hug after.

Just another reason to love Taylor and what she does for others.

Check out the performance below.

I love music. If you can't find me I'm probably at a concert somewhere. Taylor Swift wore a necklace I gave her one time, and I'm still not over it.Hit me up on twitter and Insta @Whit_Midd Read more
