Donโt expect Lewis Capaldi to be your typical superstar. He may be behind hit ballad โSomeone You Loved,โ but he isnโt about to harp on the emotional lyrics and breakup behind the song โ or take fame too seriously.
โLook at me,โ Capaldi told Ryan Seacrest when he stopped by On Air With Ryan Seacrest on Tuesday, October 15. โIโm never going to be Mr. Serious when I look like meatloaf,โ he joked. โโฆ I think the music can be serious, right? And you can do the music and this doesnโt have to last forever. I just want to look back and think, โYou know what? I had a great, good time with it.โ And I am. Iโm having a lovely time.โ
Capaldi, who still lives with his parents, agreed that he does have a levity to him and doesnโt want to be a sap story.
โYou go out for a gig and see someone on stage and theyโre like, โHereโs this next song thatโs about a girl that left me and I was really sadโ and itโs like, โWho cares!โโ Capaldi explained of his view. โ[Youโre like] โSing the song! I came here to hear it! Sing it! Youโre making me mad! Do it!โ You know what I mean?โ
That said, the 23-year-old Scottish singer-songwriter said he will continue to work some personal experiences and stories into his music, but finding love on the road has been difficult.ย
โI think you can still find stuff to write about,โ he concluded. โI think [having] all this stuff happen, itโs amazing, but the rest of the part โฆ Iโm never home so I โฆ miss home โฆ and thereโs stuff to write about that โฆ and itโs [also] very hard to cultivate a romantic relationship when youโre on the road.โ
