WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - After five years the ICT Pop-Up Urban Park will close in order to reimagine the space.
Executive vice president of strategic communications for Downtown Wichita Jaimie Garnett said in a release on Thursday that the park, located Douglas between Main St. and Market St., will close on Tuesday, September 1.
Garnett said this will allow the time and effort managing the park to be used in reimagining the park with input from the community.
Organizers who built the park say they will work with the Wichita community to reimagine the space, with the primary goal of challenging ways to think about and use public space.
The pop-up park was developed as a temporary gathering space for the public using various non-permanent and flexible items, fixtures and vibrant art.
Anyone wanting to be a part of the process are encouraged to follow theICT Pop-Up Urban Park Facebook page.
