Ariana Grande’s Halloween costume turned out to be such a success.
After teasing fans with what would be her Halloween costume this time around, Grande officially revealed the finished product of her “final procedure” on Instagram Wednesday night (October 30). In a freaky black-and-white snapshot, the “Thank U, Next” singer channeled the famous “Eye of the Beholder” episode of The Twilight Zone to inspire her transformation, which required the superstar to put on a twisted mouth, pig-like snout and sagging skin.
“Eye of the beholder,” the 26-year-old captioned one picture of her wearing in a fur coat with gloves as she flaunts a cigarette. Another black-and-white image depicts the star in a hunched pose with the same dramatic makeup and garb, which she captions, “final procedure was a success.”
For those without a clue, the iconic episode concerns a woman named Janet whose face remains hidden in bandages until she's undergone her last surgery to look “normal." But when the results bring no change and she discovers she looks nothing like the shadowed characters, whose deformed faces represent mankind, she's even more terrified of returning to her husband, who, in our world, would be considered conventionally beautiful. The episode touches on the notion that beauty, like its title suggests, is in the "eye of the beholder."
Leading up to the full costume reveal, the songbird had been posting everything from “spooky” throwback photos to screenshots and snippets from the iconic Twilight Zone episode, as well as videos of herself as one of the characters cast in the shadows.
