Meghan Markle Didn't Open Gifts At Her Baby Shower For The Sweetest Reason

Meghan Markle's whirlwind girls' trip to New York City came to an end on Wednesday (Feb. 20) after a week of tea and macaroons at Ladurèe, fancy dinners at The Polo Bar, and a glamorous baby shower thrown by Serena Williams, Amal Clooney, and Jessica Mulroney. While Meghan's $200k shower included a floral arrangement lesson and dessert sampling session, the Duchess didn't open her gifts in front of her guests. Instead she packed them up unopened and brought them back to London for the sweetest reason.

Gayle King, one of the few party guests, opened up about the shower during CBS This Morning, saying she couldn't reveal to her co-hosts what she gifted the Duchess. “If I told you, I’d have to kill you because she didn’t open any of the gifts because she wants to do that when she and Harry are back together.” Say it together now: aaaaawww! So cute!

Gayle also spoke about the floral arrangement lesson, as well, revealing that after they each created their own unique bouquets, they were then donated to Repeat Roses, which is an organization that recycles floral arrangements from events and send them to cancer treatment centers and hospice care patients. “I thought that was a very sweet thing,” King explained. “It just speaks to who she is. She’s very kind, she’s very generous and a really, really sweet person.”

“It was a very, very small, private affair and just a very special time for her,” Gayle said, wishing her friend all the best as she gets ready to welcome her first child in two months.
